Covenant Presbyterian Church can trace its roots back to the late 1800’s and stands ready to proudly celebrate its Centennial Anniversary beginning in fall 2025 and culminating on May 3, 2026. That is 100 years as a church that honors all questions and welcomes all people. We believe in working toward Christ’s radical hospitality, inclusion, and acceptance of others. We understand the pain of church hurt. And yet we believe real healing happens here.

Covenant understands its obligation to steward the church buildings so that this wonderful neighborhood church may serve its members and neighbors for the next 100 years. Aging infrastructure presents many challenges, and Covenant has been committed to meeting those head on. Significant work was needed in 2021 to repair/replace significant portions of the church HVAC. A $600,000 loan was taken out to make the necessary repairs.

The primary goal of this Centennial Campaign is to accelerate the paydown of the loan. Debt service on the loan each year costs $45,000. When the loan is paid off early, that $45,000 can be redirected to other important needs. In addition, there is a desire to build up the reserve fund so that as other infrastructure needs arise, there are adequate funds. By keeping our building safe and welcoming, we ensure our space remains a valuable resource for our community partners, securing nearly $200,000 in annual rental income for the church.

The Session has approved this plan. A strong physical plant provides a path to the goals of the church: to open the church as a way of welcoming people; to recruit new members to keep the congregation vibrant; and to expand and revitalize partnerships in ministry. We are asking everyone to make a commitment to this campaign effort in addition to their annual gift. Campaign gifts can be paid over 3 years. We prefer that most gifts be cash gifts or gifts of appreciated stock. Some members may also decide to include Covenant Presbyterian in their estate plans.
